Savage has just opened in New Zealand cinemas. It’s raw, emotion and powerful – check this out.

Savage tells the story of a gang leader called Damage and the critical moments in his life that lead him becoming the violent and moody enforcer of a gang in Wellington. 

Acting

Superb performances by the cast – particularly lead actor Jake Ryan. and a special mention to the young members of the cast shown in flashbacks

9 out of 10 for acting. 

Plot/Script

This is a powerfully written drama with some surprisingly tender and emotional moments. Great plot development and back story elements.

Great compositions in all scenes with perfectly balanced and lit shots.

Authentic sets and costuming give the film a realistic look and evoke the various time periods superbly

Entertainment 

It’s gritty, violent, tender and raw, and the story is a perfect balance of those elements.

Average 

Adding all those scores means Savage gets and average of 8.4 out of ten. 

This is a must see movie – sure it has violent moments, but the violence is not gratuitous and is appropriate given the setting – blown away by this film.
