Guns Akimbo is a new kiwi film that has become quite controversial due to some rather inflammatory tweets by director Jason Howden. Some folks have even called for a boycott. Im not going to weigh in on that – but here are my thoughts on the film.

Guns Akimbo is a new kiwi film that has become quite controversial due to some rather inflammatory tweets by director Jason Howden. Some folks have even called for a boycott. Im not going to weigh in on that – but here are my thoughts on the film.
The film stars Daniel Radcliffe as Miles – a vegan pacifist who manages to get caught up in a real life underground fight club where people actually fight with weapons to the death.
Acting
Daniel Radcliffe is great in this film, though hearing Harry Potter with an American accent seems odd initially, that quickly wears off. Samara Weaving is great as Nix, and Ned Dennehy Rikter is so vile you just want him to die.
8 out of 10 for acting.
Plot/Script
The storyline is kind of unique, and unexpectedly funny, but there are a few plot holes and its sometimes predictable.
7 out of 10 for story.
Cinematography
It is one of the best action films I have seen for a long time and thats due to the expert way it is filmed. superb sequences and shots.
8 out of 10 for cinematography
Set/Costumes
Set and costumes well designed to give this film the perfect dystopian look.
8 out of 10 for sets and costumes
Entertainment
Guns Akimbo is full of violence and well choreographed fight scenes, and there is never a dull moment.
8 out of 10 for entertainment value.
Average
Averaging all those scores means Guns Akimbo gets an 7.8 out of 10
Basically this film is a live action video game – but it’s very well made. and for someone like me who isn’t really into shoot em up kind of stories – I was impressed.
