Yesterday, I attended the New Zealand premiere of the comedy film Baby Done – was it funny?
Plot
When an ultra competitive and cynical arborist finds out she’s pregnant, her life seems to fall apart. The thought of motherhood terrifies her, especially because fatherhood delights her sensitive boyfriend.
Acting
The highlight of this movie is the cast – Rose Matafeo is simply superb and co-star Matthew Lewis shows he’s thrown off his Neville Longbottom geekiness.
9 out of 10 for acting.
Plot/Script
It may be a comedy, but the laughs are more wry than laugh out loud. It’s a sweet watchable story, but at times very predictable lacked a sense any real tension or jeopardy for the main characters.
7 out of 10 for story
Cinematography
Steady as she goes in terms of the look of the film -but some great aerial shots.
7 out of 10 for cinematography
Set/Costumes
The use of real locations from offices to homes and everyday clothing means it is easy to relate to the characters and story.
7 out of 10 for sets and costumes .
Entertainment
This is a nice film with some sweat and tender moments and great chemistry between the actors.
8 out of 10 for entertainment value
Average
Adding all those scores means Baby Done gets and average of 7.6 out of ten.
Conclusion
Essentially this film is about a straight couple who get pregnant and argue. Im not being unkind, that’s what it is -it won’t challenge you in any way, but still, it’s a fun watch and the cast are great so I’d say go and see it.
