Review: Does The Father deserve its Oscar nods?

Plot

An elderly man with dementia finds his world shrinking around him and begins to mistrust everyone and everything around him.    

Acting

Remarkable performances by the cast make this story feel very real and very personal. Anthony Hopkins delivers a complex blend of emotions and actions to his role.

The plot of this movie is deliberately confusing in order to mimic the effects of dementia. The audience is taken along the journey superbly.

Shots and setups are fairly conventional but they look beautiful and make the action more convincing.
