The film is based on the true story of a British businessman who helped MI6 penetrate the Soviet nuclear programme during the cold war. Together with a Russian source, he provided evidence that helped end the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Acting
This is a top-notch cast who individually and together create some memorable characters and scenes.
8 out of 10 for acting.
Plot/Script
It’s a fascinating story that keeps you engaged, but it lacked the kind of tension you’d expect in a spy thriller and at times was a little predictable.
7 out of 10 for story
Cinematography
Definitely well filmed, with an overall look that seemed drained of vibrancy to emulate the drabness of Soviet Russia but quite sedate in many respects.
7 out of 10 for cinematography
Set/Costumes
Excellent sets and locations that were also expertly dressed to give the entire film a definitive 60s feel.
8 out of 10 for sets and costumes
Entertainment
A very watchable film with very good acting, and despite needing a little more tension in it, it’s definitely worth seeing.
