Michelle Yeoh plays a middle-aged immigrant whose life is a letdown, she runs a laundry business and is in big trouble with the American tax authorities. At an audit, she gets embroiled in a battle raging across parallel universes.
Billed as a comedy, it certainly has some very funny moments in it and a very complex and somewhat confusing set of intertwined stories. The fight scenes are breathtaking, and the editing is masterly.
The middle of the film is action-packed, fascinating to watch, and cleverly constructed. The cast plays up the comedic angles very well, and Michelle Yeoh, is wonderful. Unfortunately, the film is hampered by a very slow and odd start, and a mediocre and schmaltzy ending.
