Review: Baz Luhrmann’s ‘Elvis’ is phenomenal

The film tells the life of the legendary singer and actor Elvis Presley from childhood to his death. At the core of the story is his relationship with manager Colonel Tom Parker.

Press play to watch my review:

Right from start, this film is a gripping, edgy and emotional interpretation of the King of Rock and Roll’s life. It is a sumptuous well-told story that is beautifully shot and keeps you interested in it right to the end. The cast is top-notch, and Austin Butler as Elvis Presley is phenomenal. He simply IS Presely, his look, mannerisms, and voice. Although some music had his voice blended with the real Elvis, Butler brings the singer’s aura and charisma to the screen and it shines brightly – I can see awards coming from this performance!

All up this is a stunning film, and every aspect of it from its style through to its editing, sets choreography and of course, acting create a magical show worthy of the man it is honouring.

So how did I score it?
