Rainbow Pride Auckland has made the difficult decision to postpone The Auckland Rainbow Parade, planned for this Saturday February 20, to a later date due to the current Covid-19 activity.
The event organiser, Shaughan Woodcock, said “The call to postpone has been made after assessing all options and advice from Key Stakeholders and while we would love nothing more than to put on a fabulous parade this weekend Rainbow Pride Auckland will always follow and support the directives issued by the New Zealand Government regarding Covid alert level moves.
“The health & safety of everyone participating, volunteering and attending our Parade is paramount and to that end we have come to the difficult decision to postpone this weekend’s Rainbow Parade and allow the community groups and organisations who are participating, enough space to navigate their own response plans to the changing levels and look after their staff.”
The parade’s organisers will continue to monitor the situation closely and follow the Government announcements, and with this information in mind, are hopeful they will be able to communicate the new date for the Auckland Rainbow Parade by the end of this week.
Stay tuned for an announcement on our new date so that you can join us in the celebration of love and unity, once again along Ponsonby Road, Auckland.
