NO ONE SINGS LIKE YOU ANYMORE– Chris Cornell
Chris Cornell tragically died in 2017 just after recording the covers album No One Sings Like You Anymore. This past month the album was released by his family on behalf of The Chris Cornell Estate.
The songs are renditions of other famous artists music including – John Lennon’s “Watching The Wheels,” Ghostland Observatory’s “Sad Sad City,” Harry Nilsson’s “Jump Into The Fire,” Carl Hall’s “You Don’t Know Nothing About Love,” Electric Light Orchestra’s “Showdown,” Terry Reid’s “To Be Treated Rite“, Lorraine Ellison’s “Stay With Me Baby” (originally released for HBO’s show Vinyl), “Get It While You Can,” popularized by Janis Joplin, and a new studio recording of “Nothing Compares 2 U,” written by Prince. Chris’ cover of Gun’s & Roses “Patience,” which was released on his birthday in 2020, and earned him his first solo Billboard Number 1 on the Mainstream Rock Songs chart, is also included on the album.
This is a fantastic album, and a tribute to the talent of the late singer.
WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU (Album) – The Avalanches
Australian band The Avalanches just released their third studio album We Will Always Love You. They’ve pulled together and really interesting and eclectic set of tracks. Some of them are ethereal and others quite odd and quirky. It’s a great album. My favourite tracks would be – Always Black and Interstellar Love.
FADE AWAY (Single) – Six60
I’m sure if you’ve watched Six60: Till The Lights Go Out you will know the track Fade Away which was released just before Christmas. It’s a great little track and I’m recommending it. If you havent seen the movie about this mega successful New Zealand pop group, it’s a great watch.
Note – all of this music is available at your favourite streaming source and online music retailers.
