Movie Review: Meg 2 – The Trench

In this sequel to the 2018 film The Meg, an underwater paradise of ancient sea creatures is found. Scientists explore the area, and unwittingly unleash three even bigger sharks which as you can imagine, start eating people.

Press play to watch the review:

There are villains and plenty of melodramatic scenes. The acting is pretty standard, and Jason Statham brings the same stoic character with virtually no emotion you’ve seen in all of his movies. Even when he’s saying ‘I love you’ there’s no actual emotion shown. But then that’s probably what’s needed when trying to kill megalodons and megalomaniacs.

The plot is quite far fetched, and at times the special effects seem a little cheap, but the sharks are pretty scary.

Basically if you ignore the  huge scientific inaccuracies and think of this film as a parody / comedy, you will probably enjoy it.

So how did I score it?

Acting   7 /10

Story/Script 6 /10

Cinematography    7/10

Set/Costumes   7 /10

Entertainment   7 /10

That gives Meg 2: The Trench  an average score of   6.8 / 10
