Spies and Lies – the Mysterious Dr. Dannevill is a new biographical book about Hjilmar Dannevill, a woman who moved to New Zealand in the early 20th Century. She worked as a medical professional in Wellington. But suspicions about her background and her relationships with women mean that in 1917 she was imprisoned as a German Spy on Matiu/Somes Island.
