For anyone planning a staycation this summer then there’s a couple of chances to chill out to some great music. The Summer Sounds Music Festival is coming to Marlborough sounds with two great gigs.
First gig – 19 December 2020
Venue: The Queen Charlotte Tavern (1162 Queen Charlotte Dr, Sounds, Marlborough)
Soulful singer/songwriter Bic Runga will be performing with her all-star band (Kody Nielson (Silicon), Cass Basil (Tiny Ruins, Carnivorous Plant Society, King Sweeties), and Michael Logie (Silicon, Mint Chicks).
Also performing on the date is the stellar electro-folk gypsy jazz band Albie & the Wolves, winners of the Best Folk Artist at the 2018 New Zealand Music Awards. The day starts off with music from two stellar emerging artists from across the top of the South Island. All Star emerging band making their South Island debut is The Whakaaro Collective. Nelson Blues Guitarist Bosho will be making his Summer Sounds debut.
There will be fantastic food, great beer, and delicious wine from Zephyr vineyards and a funky little cocktail bar!! f you want to camp overnight, its free. There will be bus transport available for $35 return from Blenheim, $30 return from Picton, $20 from Havelock and surrounding areas.

Venue: The Queen Charlotte Tavern (1162 Queen Charlotte Dr, Sounds, Marlborough)
Trinity Roots and the debut South Island performance of one of the hottest and exciting acts to emerge in NZ in the last 18 months – White Chapel Jak, with The Whakaaro Collective , with DJBex finishing the night. Check this festival, music and food stalls, check out the cocktail tent or have some of Marlborough’s great wines.
