Get ready for a hefty dose of laughter as The Tuning Fork presents Fork n Funny, a monthly line-up of Aotearoa New Zealand’s funniest comedy talent. Kicking off on Friday 25 February and rolling out every month for the rest of the year, with a fresh set of talent every month, this regular showcase of hysterical comedy is set to be a staple in Tāmaki Makaurau’s entertainment calendar.
The first outing of Fork N Funny for 2022 features an all-star display of local comedians, kicking off is MC for the night, comedy veteran Jeremy Elwood – best known for regular slots on 7 Days – with over 20 years of comedy experience under his belt, his style of comedy sets out to challenge and possibly confuse audiences. Also bringing the laughs is the sensational pop duo Two Hearts (Laura Daniel and Joseph Moore) who have swept the comedy world with their hilarious musical stylings.
Joining them is 2021 Fred Award winner Eli Matthewson, currently hosting The Edge Breakfast, Eli has appeared on 7 Days, Funny Girls and Have you Been Paying Attention, he’s one of the country’s most prolific comedians. Rounding out a night of side-splitting laughter is 2020 NZ Comedy Guild Awards nominee Bec Sandys. Described by Urzila Carlson as “one of the funniest comics in New Zealand!”, Bec draws on her colourful palette of life experiences for comedy that will have audiences falling off their seats in laughter.
The Tuning Fork has created an intimate seated space for audiences to have a forkin’ good and safe time even during Red Light. Guests will be able to order food and drinks directly to their table from their phones throughout the show – even if you’re in the front row – although you never know what the comedians will have to say about your order!
“During these uncertain and challenging times, we think it’s so important to treat ourselves to comedy, laugh out loud and support our funniest local comedians. The safety of our audiences are our highest priority so we will continue to take a number of precautions to create a safe environment for everyone.” – The Tuning Fork team
