Enter the haunting world of mean streets – through the stylish, cryptic aesthetic of Film Noir – as they come to life in this brand new ballet.
One of Aotearoa’s best loved ballet and contemporary dance choreographers, Mary Jane O’Reilly has created this contemporary piece to be an elegant reflection of the sometimes uneasy times we find ourselves living in.
Channelling the tragi-romantic narratives of the great classic ballets, this work is a meditation on the mysterious forces of darkness. Characters include femmes fatales, a young innocent abroad, and two male rivals who’ll go head to head with dance as their weapon.
Featuring twelve of Auckland’s finest dancers, Ballet Noir is an exquisite blend of dance, music, and fantasy.
Clad in sharply tailored vintage costumes, the dancers will move stealthily through a magical, menacing world.
Season is limited to strictly three performances only, so jeté down to the box office without delay!
